The Pet Blogger Challenge

Pet Blogger Challenge

Edie of Will My Dog Hate Me? and Amy of GoPetFriendly.com gave pet bloggers the fun opportunity “The Pet Blogger Challenge” to write same theme post. I decided to participate in it. (Barely met the deadline!)

1. When did you begin your blog?

My website and blog launched on October 10th, 2010

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?

  • To familiarize the reward-based motivational (science-based positive reinforcement method) training to the public
  • To enriching the life of blind dog and their guardian
  • To decrease abandonments and increase adoptions of blind dog

3. Is your current purpose the same?

Yes!

– If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals?

I haven’t met. But My blog is accessed around the world despite my English isn’t good. I feel that our posts might be any good for somebody and some dog. Information about blind dog training is very very few. We (I and my blind dachshund Nono) passed tests including formal dumbbell retrieve, unleash heelwork, to go into a crate 5 meter distant and so on, and have achieved my dog’s safe and comfortable life through a trial and error process. I think our experiences and challenges can be helpful for other blind dogs and their guardian to build more beautiful relationship and to enjoy life. To keep on posting is important to meet my goal.

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?

I try to post once a week. But I have trouble posting on desirable schedule because I’m not good at using English and need time to translate my opinion and information into English and make videos ;( To write English posts is hard for me but it’s also fun! Reader’s feedback motivate me! I appreciate people who click the facebook like button, share my posts and give some comments on post and video 🙂

5. Are you generating income from your blog?

No. I hope I will get to know companies that make production and distribution for blind dog or publish a book about blind dog training rather than sponsors.

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?

I can get new information in other countries, and meet wonderful dog lovers (guardian, trainer, vet and so on) around the world. Those and they teach many things and inspire me!

7. What do you like least?

I’m always worried about my English.

8. How do you see your blog changing or growing in 2011?

I want to keep on posting, increase useful information, change the blog design and improve my English!!!

Thank you Edie and Amy for the fun and great opportunity!

      Hi Pup Fan 🙂

Nice to meet you and thank you !
Some people loose their motivation to raise their dog when they know that their dog has lost his sight or will go blind.
It’s so sad. Blind dogs are brilliant same as full-vision dog! They can enjoy life and teach us many things! We can help them enrich their life. I want to tell more people that 🙂

I think it’s awesome that you are doing a multi-lingual blog.
I know the time and effort that goes into writing blog posts on my own blog, I know it must take you even longer since you then have to spend time translating.

Don’t worry so much about your English. Your blog and articles are very readable.

    Mary

I don’t only enjoy your blog but also learn English from it 🙂

Wow! My dogs with perfect sight cannot do have the things you listed. I agree with Mary – don’t worry about your English. You post was very easy to understand. Thanks so much for participating in the challenge!

      Hi Amy 🙂

Oh! Thank you for the comment and cheering me up!

I was excited to find your blog. You have some very helpful information here.

I had a dog who developed cataracts which severely impaired her vision although she wasn’t entirely blind. She had also lost most of her hearing.

Her physical limitations created some challenges for us in caring for her. I wish you and your blog had been around back then.

And I think it’s amazing that you’re translating your posts into English. You’re going a great job!

      Hi Pamela 🙂

Nice to meet you. Thank you for lovely comment 🙂
I was very dissapointed when I heard my dog Nono had already gone almost blind. If I hadn’t known positive reinforcement training then, I would have cried and thought that she wasn’t awesome dog but poor dog even now. I think that blind dog’s guardian can keep positive thought if they know how to help blind dog and what blind dog can do. I’m going to share my information about blind dog training and whant Nono can do, and keep on enjoying training with her 🙂
Pamela you may want to access my blog again!

I just had a conversation the other night about how difficult it would be to train a dog who is blind. As my trainer has a dog who is deaf, I know lots of techniques for that, but none for blindness. I am really looking forward to reading more of your perspective.

Thank you for participating in the challenge. I don’t know if I would have found your blog without it. And don’t worry too much about your English. You write better in that language than many native speakers I know.

      Hi Kristine 🙂

Thank you for the comment! It cheer up and motivate me 🙂
Yes! We can get deaf dog training tequniques and information but can’t get those of blind dog ;-(
I’ll keep on posting about blind dog’s life, ablities and training.
Nice to meet you and please visit my blog again!
